Amanda Khorramabadi is an award-winning video journalist, documentary filmmaker, video producer, editor, script writer and camerawoman with an expertise in social media videos.

Amanda’s work has been honored across the Southeast and nationally. Her reporting and visual storytelling have earned multiple Alabama Press Association awards, including first place for Best Public Service and multiple first-place wins for Best Use of Video in both short- and long-form categories. In 2025, her video “Denied: Alabama’s Broken Parole System” won first place for Best Public Service and Best Use of Video (Under 2 minutes), and two other videos by Amanda won second and third place in the same category.

Her video work has also contributed to major national recognition. In 2025, “Denied: Alabama’s Broken Parole System” was named a finalist for the ABA Silver Gavel Award, the nation’s highest honor for journalism and the law. Amanda served as the project’s sole videographer and editor, producing the entire video component and directing additional motion-graphics work.

Amanda is a Southeast Regional Emmy Award winner (2019, 2023) and a multi-year nominee, with nominations in categories including Societal Concerns – News for her film What Harm Am I Doing?” Her social-media and explainer work has also earned multiple honors from the Alabama Press Association, including Best Use of Social Media and top awards for Best Use of Video across multiple years. She has been recognized by the Education Writers Association as both a winner and a finalist for her video storytelling in 2021–2022.
